Our Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 — A Laughter Riot You Cannot Miss!
Welcome to the Jungle review — Bollywood has finally given us what we have been waiting for — a proper family comedy that makes everyone laugh, from kids to grandparents. Welcome to the Jungle is the third film in the Welcome franchise, and it is hands down the most entertaining one yet. Director Ahmed Khan has pulled off something remarkable: a film with more than 20 known stars where every single actor gets their moment to shine.
Story — What is Welcome to the Jungle About?
The story kicks off with a wonderfully silly premise. A filthy rich, corrupt businessman who resembles Vijay Mallya a little too much decides to make a 2,000 crore film to convert his black money into white. On the advice of his secretary (Johnny Lever), he hires every struggling and unsuccessful person in the film industry.
Enter a flop director (Paresh Rawal), a flop actor (Akshay Kumar), dons-turned-struggling actors (Suniel Shetty and Arshad Warsi), the corrupt man’s dumb daughter (Jacqueline Fernandez), and the flop actor’s ex-girlfriend (Disha Patani). The film crew heads to a jungle for a shoot, and that is where the real madness begins.
The second half takes a brilliant turn as the crew gets mistaken for the Indian army near a border village in crisis. What follows is an hilarious chain of mistaken identities, chaotic action, and non-stop comedy.
What Works — The Good
Akshay Kumar is Sensational
Akshay Kumar is the beating heart of Welcome to the Jungle. He plays Rajiv, a flop actor who cannot stop overacting the moment he sees a camera. Kumar’s comic timing here is at its absolute best. He is not afraid to look foolish, clumsy, or cringey — and that fearlessness is what makes every scene he is in completely hilarious. This is easily one of his best comic performances in years.
The Ensemble Cast is a Goldmine
With more than 20 stars on screen, you would expect some to feel wasted. Remarkably, Ahmed Khan ensures everyone gets their moment. Suniel Shetty returning to comedy alongside Akshay Kumar brings a massive wave of nostalgia for fans of the 90s. Paresh Rawal remains the gold standard of Hindi comedy — his timing is still unmatched. Arshad Warsi is completely in his element. Johnny Lever reminds you why he is a true institution in Indian comedy. Shreyas Talpade is a pleasant surprise. Jackie Shroff is menacing and memorable as the villain.
The Meta Humour is Brilliant
The film is packed with clever self-referencing. Akshay Kumar jokes about his Khiladi and Mohra days. Suniel Shetty’s character is literally called “Anna” Shetty. Raveena Tandon appears and taunts Kumar for “20 years of neglection.” Arshad Warsi paraphrases his own Jolly LLB lines. There is even a Mahabharat reference that will make the entire theatre roar. The film knows exactly what it is and has great fun with it.
Visually Stunning
The transition from vibrant urban sets to a lush jungle setting in the second half keeps the film visually fresh. Ahmed Khan uses his background in action choreography brilliantly — the action sequences are spectacular and some of them are genuinely jaw-dropping for a comedy film.
Clean Family Entertainment
In an era of films trying too hard to be edgy, Welcome to the Jungle is a breath of fresh air. The comedy is clean, situational, and effortless. You can watch it comfortably with your parents, children, and grandparents without a single awkward moment.
What Does Not Work — The Bad
First Hour Drags a Bit
The first hour of the 165-minute film is a little slow to get going. The setup takes its time, and the comedy in this section feels more like a warm-up than the main event. Some viewers may find the Cartoon Network-style humour in the opening portions a bit too silly.
A Few Dubbing Glitches
There are a handful of minor dubbing issues in certain scenes that momentarily break the flow. Nothing major, but noticeable.
Climax Gets Predictable
Once the crew reaches the village, you can guess exactly where the story is heading. The emotional passages in the climax are earnest but somewhat formulaic.

Direction and Music
Ahmed Khan deserves enormous credit for managing such a massive ensemble without letting the film collapse under its own weight. The fact that Welcome to the Jungle never feels overloaded despite 20+ stars is a genuine achievement. The late Neeraj Vora, who wrote the original story blueprint before his passing, clearly left his stamp on the comedic DNA of this film.
The music is fun and breezy. Ooncha Lamba Kad is already a crowd favourite and works perfectly in the context of the film.
Should You Watch Welcome to the Jungle?
Absolutely yes. If you are looking for a film to watch with your entire family this weekend, Welcome to the Jungle is the perfect choice. It is loud, chaotic, nostalgic, and genuinely funny — the kind of film Bollywood used to make in its golden era of comedies.
Is it a perfect film? No. But it is exactly what it promises to be — a joyful, laugh-out-loud entertainer that leaves you smiling all the way home.
Watch or Not: MUST WATCH with Family
